I have threatened for years to become a painter and still have not become one, but have always appreciated the feel of painted images.  Impressionism is my favorite style as it has this sense of mystery and unreality that I find appealing.  I have used Photoshop in the past to push some of my images in that direction, but over the last several months have been experimenting with Corel Painter X.  The advantage to Painter is its brushes and the many adjustments that can be made to them creating a myriad of effects and intensities.  I have found myself creating images in Photoshop, treating them in Painter, and then touching them up in Photoshop.  The complexity of the images and brushstrokes are interesting to my eye. I am posting three images that are a result of this experimentation. More can be seen at my Zenfolio Gallery.

Vase and Flowers

Vase and Flowers came about after I scanner dried roses and a vase and digitally married them together and put them in the Paint program and stirred them up.

Water Lilies Paint

Recently visited Cumberland Island, Georgia. About 30 miles north of Jacksonville, Florida… Very interesting place. A national and mostly very unspoiled barrier island, it is a wonderland of maritime forests with palmettto floors and gnarled oak canopys. I shot a lot of photos in the forest and have begun to process them using some colorization techniques that enhance the mystery and texture of what I saw…I hope you enjoy them!
