I have been involved in photography, one way or the other, since choosing Technology Education as my career while at Florida State University through 1974. During my time there, it was the Graphic Arts (specifically photography) aspect of the curriculum that captivated my interest. Upon graduation, I taught middle school students Graphic Arts and set up my first black and white darkroom in a converted bathroom to insure my students exposure to photography. They were enthralled. After five years of teaching, I became a representative for Jostens in their Yearbook Division.. A primary responsibility was to teach yearbook staffs about photography and page design as it related to the publishing of their yearbook. I continued to build interest and expertise in both through experience, formal training, and personal exploration. Ten years ago I ceased all other creative pursuits to build on the passion I had for photography. With a background in Graphic Arts, it was easy to make the transition from a “wet darkroom” to a “digital darkroom”. My tools of the trade are a Nikon D200 and Adobe CS3(Photoshop).
I currently participate in a limited number of exhibits in the region. I have been represented by the South of Soho Co-op Art Gallery in Tallahassee, Florida for the past five years. I have participated in the Downtown Marketplace and am a member of COCA, the Artist League of Tallahassee, LeMoyne Center for the Visual Arts, Gadsden Arts Center, and NAPP (National Association of Photoshop Professionals). I currently teach beginning and intermediate photo-editing at the LeMoyne Center for the Visual Arts in Tallahassee as well as provide individual consultation and training in Photography and Photo-editing using: Photoshop, Elements, and Lightroom.
